You have got to be kidding me! Watch the below video and let me know what you think about this one. This 7th grade boy was playing with an Airsoft gun on his property. He was both target shooting and also ended up playing with other boys, including shooting each other with the plastic pellets. Trust me, I do NOT think it is ok that they were shooting each other, especially as a mother. After all, they could put an eye out. But, I sincerely fail to see how this is any business of the school district. This is clearly an issue where his mom should discipline him, perhaps ensure he has a good male mentor, perhaps get him into some firearms safety classes and basic pistol classes so that he learns the four commandments of using a gun, safe handling, as well as refocusing his energy in a more positive direction as it relates to firearms. Suspending a child from school for a year, especially at the Middle School or High School level, is a sure-fire way to put the student on a slippery slope toward educational failure, which will increase the chances that this child will become a criminal of some type in the future. What do you think about this one?
