At the very beginning of the firearm-related supply hoarding frenzy, I ordered five 10 round Accuracy International Magazines for my Remington 5R with an AICS Stock. I placed my order on the 10th of January, 2013 from the Brownell’s Website. You may recall, that one reason I replaced the stock of my Remington 5R with the AICS was to allow for a detachable magazine, but the stock only came with one mag, which is not enough to allow for quick changes during a match, or in case of future failures. When I placed my order, Brownell’s said they were in stock, but immediately after I placed by order, I received an e-mail telling me that they were backordered and would be filled in sequential order.
There have been days I have wondered if I really ever even placed that order.
Days I have thought that I would surely never see the order filled.
Dreams where I imagined trying to keep my single magazine operational for the next 40 years.
Today – I opened my e-mail, and had a happy surprise, Brownell’s has filled my order, on the 30th day of May. Nearly five months since I clicked “buy” on their website.
I offer the following Haiku in celebration:
I refuse to pay some of the insane prices some dealers are charging for things. Some ammo went from a typical $16 a box, to $35 or $70 a box. This is nuts. I’ll just shoot slower until the prices return to normal and people stop hording. (You should have several mags for anything that might be used as a weapon or in competition.)
Better late than never 🙂 And I’d order another five just to be on the safe side… One can never have too many mags!
