Screen Shot 2013-02-09 at 8.30.07 AMIf you click on the photo to the left, it will take you to an USA Today article back in December 2012 where it is estimated that from 70% to 80% of NFL players own guns. If I had a multi-million dollar contract to play football, or for any job, I would own a gun too. I agree they need guns! Still, in a way they are safer than I am, a single mother living alone with the security I can afford compared to the security they can afford. They likely have armed guards as well. Yes, they are celebrities, especially in the states they play football in. Women are targets as well – targets of opportunity.

What right does an NFL player (or an EX-NFL player) have to tell me that I should have less options when it comes to protecting me and my children? Well, ok – there is the 1st Amendment, they have the right to say what they like, but I don’t have to listen nor care! I cannot find any proof that any of these particular gentlemen have guns, but if you have proof, please share it with me.  I am sure that at least a couple of them, if not all five of them do indeed own a gun.

Deion Sanders mugshot after trespassing

What about Michael Irvin?  As an interesting side note to this story, he was listed as one of the “50 most Infamous Criminals in Sports History.” Yes, this is just who I want telling me about MY gun rights.  Perhaps he should take care of his own issues.   Besides Deion Sanders domestic situation where he was cited for possible assault (his wife was the one arrested) he has been arrested in the past for trespassing.  How many millions of lawful gun owners have never committed any crime, nor ever will.

Screen Shot 2013-02-09 at 11.05.58 AMUSA Today published an article and linked a video they call a “Public Service Announcement”.  Is this really a public service announcement?  This is a commercial, an advertisement paid for by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which was founded by New York City’s Michael Bloomberg and Boston’s Thomas Menino.  It is a Political Action commercial, there is nothing in here about Public Safety.  Smokey the Bear does “Public Service Announcement, were he reminds people that only “YOU can prevent a forest fire.”  This Commercial featuring football stars is simply here to undermine our 2nd Amendment Rights, paid for by an independently wealthy man who does not share the values of most of the people in this country, not even the ones who vote for him.  People need to wake up and really look at the politicians they vote for and try to find their motivation.  Mayor Bloomberg is a one man band who is using his own funds to influence the entire country.

If you are interested, here is the spot paid for by Bloomberg’s Political Action Committee (PAC).  Let me know what you think.

  1. Bloomberg was the idiot that said that an 18 year old isn’t responsible enough to have a gun….. I guess he forgot about all the 18 to 20 year olds that protect his right to be a fool. God bless the U.S. Armed Forces.
