Chris Kyle, “American Sniper”, Slain at Gun Range Today

I just came home from the gun range, and am simply devastated. I just learned that Chris Kyle, former Navy SEAL and author of “American Sniper” was gunned down at the Rough Creek Lodge this afternoon. Investigators said Eddie Routh, a former Marine who is believed to suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), is alleged to have turned his weapon on Chris Kyle and another victim, killing them both at point-blank range about 3:30 p.m this afternoon.

I talk about Chris Kyle almost every single day, for those of you who read this blog, you know my first true love is long range shooting, and I absolutely devour information from SEALs regarding their weapons and sniper training.

“People tell me I saved hundreds and hundreds of people. But I have to tell you: it’s not the people you saved that you remember. It’s the ones you couldn’t save. Those are the ones you talk about. Those are the faces and situations that stay with you forever.” ~ Chris Kyle

Chris was simply a hero to this country, a husband and father to his family, a Devil to the insurgents in Iraq, and he was a person I idolized and put him high on a pedestal – for everything he was.

My heart breaks for his wife and his children, he came back to them after all his combat tours, and on a regular Saturday afternoon, he went to the range, just like I did – and he didn’t come home.

Rest In Peace Chris.  May God Bless and Keep you.  My prayers will be with your family.

  1. What a tragic loss. Something has got to be done in regard to all of these veterans with P.T.S.D. other than throwing them on the latest and greatest psychedelic wonder drug big Pharma hopes to make their next billion on and then releasing them into the public for stuff like this to happen. It isn’t guns! It’s the poisons (they are calling the poison medicine).

  2. How devasting, I am in a state of shock. Chris Kyle and his book, ” American Sniper”, was such an inspiration to me that I joined his foundation, and Gary Sine’s efforts for war veterans. I have been very ill as of late, though on the road to to recovery. Soon, I will continue with the inspiritions of Chris Kyle . God bless his family and loved ones. A tragic end to a true hero.
