Screen Shot 2013-01-20 at 12.23.58 PMWe often discuss the need for the media to become more educated about firearms before they so vehemently stand opposed to them. I woke up this morning to a note from Andrea Bulfinch, she is a journalist, writing for Foster’s Daily Democrat.  She kindly let me know that she had mentioned my Blog in an article she wrote called “It’s a gender revolution, and gun ownership is no longer just a man’s world.

Forget diamonds … is gun now a girl’s best friend?

While a nationwide conversation about guns, gun violence and gun control is taking place bringing Second Amendment rights into the spotlight, a “gender revolution” has taken place with an increased number of women choosing to lock and load.

Numerous websites, blogs, and forums such as Heels and Handguns, Women Against Gun Control, Second Amendment Sisters and hundreds of other virtual groups have brought women from across the country together, sharing their knowledge and support of what some are calling a woman’s “real right to choose.

Her article had a very positive spin, and was refreshing compared to most of the news I have been reading lately related to guns.

I noticed Andrea also wrote an article called “I’m a woman. I carry a gun. I’m glad I have it.” At the end of that article, she added one of my favorite quotes attributed to Annie Oakley: “I ain’t afraid to love a man. I ain’t afraid to shoot him, either.”  The rest of the article is great, and I would encourage you to click over and read it.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank Andrea Bulfinch, she is a journalist, she is a woman with a gun – and I am glad to have her on our side.
